NORWAY – Town Manager David Holt has announced that property tax bills are expected to be mailed late this week.

The tax rate increase from $13 to $13.60 means for every $100,000 in property value, owners will pay an additional $60.

“Increases in costs for fuel and insurances, lack of new construction to increase the value of the town and loss of revenues from the state continue add to the challenge of supporting local services,” said Holt in a statement this week.

“Norway taxes have increased $100 on $100,000 in value in a five-year period. While no tax increase is ever desirable, the balance between modest tax increases and maintenance needed services has been ultimately chosen by the voters,” he said.
