AUBURN — Robert A. Durgin, 89, of Sabattus, passed away at the Androscoggin Hospice House, Tuesday, Aug. 16.

He was born in Gardiner, May 20, 1922, the oldest son of 13 children of the late Arthur and Gladys (Rogers) Durgin.

Robert married the love of his life, Marlene (Henderson) Durgin in East Livermore on April 19, 1958. Robert and Marlene lived and raised their children in Sabattus. He worked at several jobs, his favorite being for the Lewiston School system as a custodian retiring in 1984.

Robert had a quick wit and loved telling jokes and stories of childhood and family life. He looked forward to the Durgin yearly family reunions. He loved going to yard sales with his late wife, Marlene, and was consoled by her passing by his loyal lab companion, Logan.

Robert was predeceased by his four brothers, Albert, Stanley, John and Howard; and four sisters, Muriel, Louise, Mary and Ined.

He is survived by his two children, Linda Roy and her husband, Adrian and Robert Durgin and his wife, Kathy; one granddaughter, Amanda Roy and her partner, Rodney Harris; one great-granddaughter, Lacey Harris; four sisters, Lillian Ferrucci and her husband, Attilio, Dorothy Durgin, Gloria Pratt and Josephine Coombs and her husband, Robert; as well as many nieces and nephews.
