Franklin County commissioners agreed Tuesday to have seven pine trees and a dead spruce tree removed on the Church Street side of the Franklin County Courthouse, county Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Charisse Keach said Wednesday. A pine tree on the north side, near Anson Street, will be pruned and left standing. Besides the trees on the south side being unhealthy and dripping pitch onto stair railings and vehicles, they block visibility of the building from the downtown. Commissioners are still exploring what will be put in their place, she said.
