RUMFORD — Burton S. deFrees, 85, English teacher and theater director from Rumford Center, son of the late Burton and Edwina (Lawson) deFrees Sr, died Monday, Aug. 15.

He is survived by his three grown children, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Ethan, and their families.
