Camp of Rock

AUBURN — Camp of Rock concert will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, Great Falls Performing Arts Center, Community Little Theatre building, 30 Academy St.

Camp of Rock is a two-week summer music camp inspired by the movie School of Rock. Kids between the ages of 7 to 17 with varying ability form a rock band, name it, design a logo for T-shirts and CD labels, and learn to play and record as many tunes as they can.

This year’s group has 23 musicians, all on stage at the same time: 4 drummers, 2 bassists, 8 guitarists, 6 keyboard players, a flute player, a clarinet player, and a singer. There is no charge to attend the concert, but T-shirts will be for sale, with all proceeds going to the Great Falls Academy of Modern Music Camp of Rock scholarship fund.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens announce league play for cribbage and pinochle will start Thursday, Sept. 1, and pitch will start Tuesday, Sept. 6. For more information, call the Senior Center at 784-2926, ext. 207.

Coffee House

NEW GLOUCESTER — Rebecca Wing, jazz vocalist and keyboard, will appear with Liz Matta on saxophone at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, Village Coffee House, New Gloucester Congregational Church at the intersection of Church and Gloucester Hill Roads in Lower Village of New Gloucester.

Tickets are available at the door. Adults $10; children and seniors, $5.
