LEWISTON — Germaine M. Guenette, 82, of 440 Minot Ave., Clover Manor, Auburn, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 7, 1929, daughter of the late Elzear and Eugenie Lalone Berube. She was educated in Lewiston schools and prior to her retirement was employed as a stitcher in local shoe shops. She was the widow of Joseph Guenette.
In her early years, Germaine was a well-known local entertainer, having sung on many occasions on WCOU radio in the 1950s. She enjoyed singing, listening to music, playing beano, crocheting and especially being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Girouard and her fiance, John Moncey, of Sabattus; two sons, Dee Dustin and wife, Betty A., of Lewiston and Jeff Dustin of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eudore Berube of Auburn.
