The Herrick Cemetery on Main Street, Lewiston, has been given a general cleanup, with grass and brush being cut throughout the cemetery for the first time in several years.
The cemetery had become overgrown apparently through the lack of interest by descendants of those buried there. It is planned to cut the grass once more this season on all graves in an attempt to keep the cemetery, located on the main artery through the city, looking its best.
Herrick Cemetery is the second oldest cemetery in Lewiston.

West-Nesbitt Inc., one of central New York’s largest animal feed suppliers, has been bought by the owners of the Carter Milling Co. of Lewiston.
Richard Tonoli of Lewiston, who purchased the Oneonta firm with partner Barry Little-Gill of Needham, Mass., declined to disclose the terms of the sale Tuesday. He did say, however, that all of the 61-year-old company’s stock was purchased by the partners.
Tonoli and Little-Gill, who have owned the Carter company since 1981, also bought the Auburn Milling Co. three years ago.
