LEWISTON — The YWCA has a full schedule of swim lessons which are available mornings, afternoons, evenings and Saturday mornings. Registration is available now. Swim lessons will begin the week of Sept. 6.
Water babies, Puddle Jumpers, and Parent & Tot classes are available for children ages 6 month through 35 months. These are water adjustment classes. Parents accompany their child in the water.
Water Explorers is for children 2 to 6 years who are afraid of being in the water and helps them conquer this fear. Parents accompany their child in the water.
Aquatots, Guppies, Jellyfish, Polliwog, and Tadpole classes are all designed to help children from ages 3 to 15 learn and develop the skills to become proficient swimmers. Classes are paced for the age and ability level of each child and YWCA staff will help parents decide on the most appropriate level for their child.
American Red Cross Water Safety classes for stroke development, stroke refinement, and fitness are also offered to youth.
Lessons are available for adults (15 and older) who have never had swimming lesson or are still working on beginner strokes.
