This is in response to the letter from Robert Macdonald in the Aug. 8 Sun Journal.

First of all, if someone wants to get the community attitude to be positive about the town in which they live, that’s great. The community pride comes from within the city, not on people’s lawns. Nice lawns only shows they have nothing more to do.

Furthermore, if they had real pride in their town then they would volunteer to help the newcomers to the city, and make them feel good about where they live.

We will have much more upbeat community park parties in the future.

The negative people in this town are what makes Lewiston sour, and it needs to stop.
