It seems to me, that every time the word “cut” is used in the same sentence as “balanced budget and deficit cuts,” three things are always targeted. Seniors, children and our great military.

Why?

With all the billions spent on pork barrel projects, the billions being sent overseas to countries that are hostile to us, and all the waste prevalent in D.C. itself, why are these three threatened first and foremost? Scare tactics? Yes. Of the worst sort.

Yet every member of the House and Senate freely give themselves perks. They have access to gas, restaurants, salons, spas and doctors, all at the taxpayer expense. They pay, on average, $500 a year for health insurance. What does this cover? Everything. Even aspirin.

So, once again I ask, why are our seniors, who have contributed all their lives to Social Security, denied cost of living increases? Why are our children targeted? Why are our troops paid so little for sacrificing so much?

Whatever happened to “government by the people for the people”?

We the people have been forgotten.
