TURNER — Police are continuing their investigation of an early Sunday morning motorcycle crash on a dirt road in Turner.
A team of Maine State Police troopers is reconstructing the accident, talking to witnesses and running toxicology tests, Maine State Police Lt. Walter Grzyb said Tuesday.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said alcohol and speed were believed to be factors in the crash.
Once the report is complete, it is expected to be turned over to the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office, Grzyb said.
Police said the crash happened at about 12:58 a.m. Sunday on Betty Road in Turner. Kristin Gagne, 24, of Auburn was pronounced dead at the scene after a motorcycle on which she was a passenger hit three trees and a rock.
The driver of the 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Matthew Alexander, 25, of Turner received minor injuries. Police said it was believed the two had been visiting friends who lived along the dead-end road.
