AUBURN — Auburn Adult Education has announced their classes for September.

GED classes are offered every Monday and Wednesday at Edward Little High School and Auburn Hall. No appointment is necessary, but call 333-6661 for class times because they vary by location.

High school diploma classes begin Aug. 29; registration is required.

A CNA class is projected to start Sept. 6 and a second is scheduled for Nov. 1.

Medical billing/coding, terminology and CPC begins Sept. 22. Medical transcription certificate program begins Sept. 22. Certified medical administrative assistant begins Sept. 20 and pharmacy technician training certificate program begins Sept. 21. Call today for registration instructions and price.

Adult, child, infant CPR and first aid will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks beginning Sept. 20. This course is presented by the American Red Cross.

Alpaca School, Andes Alpaca Farm, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 17, for session one of four. Get outside and learn about sustainable fiber farming and fiber arts in Maine at four alpaca farms. Participants may attend one or all four sessions.

Applique will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. for six weeks beginning Sept. 1. Learn to applique in three ways.

Ballroom dancing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. for five weeks beginning Sept. 29. Learn the basics of three popular ballroom dances: foxtrot, waltz and swing. Come with a partner for a fun night out.

Ballroom review will run from 7 to 8 p.m. for five weeks beginning Sept. 29. The class is for those who have taken a basic beginner class in fox trot, waltz and swing and want to brush up or review. New dance steps will be learned as time permits. Partners are required.

Beekeeping: An Introduction, will run from 6 to 8 p.m. for six weeks beginning Sept. 13. Learn about bees, their life in a colony, building a beehive, protective clothing, equipment, hive maintenance, hive management, how to work with bees, diseases and pests.

Cardio fitness boot camp will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for seven weeks beginning Sept. 13. This course is designed for adults at all levels of fitness.

Ceramic tile installation begins Sept. 6 and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. for six weeks. Ceramic, marble and granite tile from design and layout to finished projects. Participants will design their own project.

French for beginners, Sept. 21, 7:30-9 p.m. for eight weeks. Open to both absolute beginners and people that have spoken a bit of French in high school or abroad, or who have heard their grandparents speak it.

German new medicine, Sept. 27, 6-8 p.m. This class will present an overview of an entirely different medical model, different from Western medicine and different from alternative medicine as we now know it.

Ghosthunting 101, Thursday, Sept. 8, 6-9 p.m. for eight weeks. Presented by Central Maine Paranormal Investigations.

Intro to hula hoop, Sept. 7, 6-7 p.m. for four weeks. This light-duty class will get your hips moving to learn the basics of hooping and how to incorporate the hula-hoop into your daily exercise routine.

Learn to see auras, Sept. 26, 6-9 p.m.

Manifesting Made Easy, Sept. 19, 6-9 p.m. Take charge of your own life. Learn how to use the Law of Attraction like in the book “The Secret” to pattern what you most desire.

Middle Eastern dance (belly dance), Sept. 21, 7-8 p.m. for six weeks. Learn about the art form of belly dance and the history behind it while trying a new and fun way to get exercise.

Model railroading, Sept. 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. for eight weeks. Learn the basic techniques of model railroading. Bench work, basic wiring, scenery building, weathering and layout design will be covered.

Mother and daughter self-defense, Sept. 22, 6-9 p.m. Students will learn both verbal and physical strategies on how to protect themselves.

Oil painting for beginners, Sept. 22, 6-8 p.m. for eight weeks. No drawing skills necessary. This class will focus on the basics including capturing form, light, perspective, depth, proportion, color and mixing color.

Qigong for the season: Warming for winter, Sept. 12, 6-7 p.m. for 12 weeks.  Through both still and movement (dynamic) meditation, practitioners will learn to develop energy that will warm and revitalize the mind and body.

Reiki I, Sept. 15, 6-8 p.m. for two weeks. Participants will learn the hands on method for direct healing and receive an attunement that creates the channeling ability.

Reiki III-Master teacher, Sept. 29, 6-8 p.m. for nine weeks. Participants should have completed Reiki Level I and II studies.

Self-defense for the mature adult, Sept. 15, 6-9 p.m. The class is designed to teach mature adults from the ages of 55 years old and up the skills needed to defend themselves. The class will also discuss ways to diffuse an attack.

Singing songs in Spanish, Sept. 20, 6-8 p.m. for six weeks. Bring a guitar if you wish. No knowledge of Spanish or the guitar is required.

Street survival self defense, Sept. 8, 6-9 p.m. The class is designed to teach the survival skills needed to avoid a confrontation, scare off a potential attacker and fight back if necessary.

West Coast Swing I: Introduction to WCS, Sept. 20, 7:15-8:17 p.m. for six weeks. West Coast is a fun and versatile social dance. It is one of the most stylized and musically interpretive forms of partner dance. No partner required.

Wing Chun Kung Fu: An introduction, Sept. 12, 7:15-8:15 p.m. for 12 weeks. Students will be introduced to Authentic Internal Wing Chun Kung Fu, an effective system of self defense best popularized by action star Bruce Lee. Training exercises can be adaptable to anyone, any age

Woodworking, Sept. 15, 6-9 p.m. for 10 weeks. Create projects of your choice with guidance and assistance from the instructor. Learn the safe use of a wide variety of hand and power tools. Space and equipment is provided, you provide the plans, materials and supplies.

Computer basics, Sept. 12, 6-7:30 p.m. for six weeks.

Word processing skills, Sept. 14, 6-7:30 p.m. for five weeks. Learn how to create a wide variety of documents using Microsoft Word and OpenOffice Writer (a free open source office suite).

Digital photo uses, Sept. 13, 6-7:30 p.m. for five weeks. Learn how to email photos, create digital scrapbooks, create photo slideshows (movies), share privately or publicly online with family members, and how to take the best possible photo and fix those one-in-a-million photos that are slightly off.
