FARMINGTON — Police Chief Jack Peck introduced Farmington’s new patrol officer to the Board of Selectmen during their meeting Tuesday.
Courtney J. Krause, 21, formerly of Traverse City, Mich., began her full-time position with the Farmington department Monday, Peck told the board.
After serving as a reserve officer in Michigan for two years, Krause completed Michigan’s Police Academy before applying for the position in Maine.
She will need to take some classes and complete state tests to be certified on Maine law, but she won’t need to attend Maine’s 18-week police academy, he said.
“She’s ready to go,” he said.
When the board asked about her interest in the position, she said she came to Maine a few years ago and “fell in love” with the state.
The department is once again one staff member short after Officer Kim Bates resigned earlier this month to take a position with the Maine Warden Service, he said.
He will begin the process of filling that position soon.
