LEWISTON — Clara C. Gartley, 91, of Lisbon, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 22, after a heart attack.

She was born in Lisbon Center, Dec. 31, 1919, a daughter of Alfred and Maria Belanger Gamache. She was married to Gordon Gartley May 4,1940. She was a resident of Lisbon most of her life, retired from Farnsworth Mill and moved to Sarah Fry assisted living facility in 2007. She was a member of the loving family of St. Mathews Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Gartley joined Pine Tree Grange No. 3 in 1937, served as faithful secretary for 27 years and recently received her 70-year Seal and Certificate. She has been a faithful member of that Grange, Androsoggin and Sagadahoc Pomona Granges, the Maine State Grange of which she served as Junior Deputy for four years and Lady Assistant Steward for eight years. She was Marshal for an installation team that installed officers throughout the state for 27 years and was known by Granges throughout the state for being a part of one of the best installing teams available.

She is survived by her son, Carl and his wife, Karol, of Rockwood; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren, Shane and his son, Michael Gartley of Atlanta, Ga., and Mark Goff of Pascagoula, Miss., and his son, Casey; a twin sister, Aldea Grondon of Auburn; a brother, Reuben Gamache and his wife, Irene, of Sabattus; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon L. Gartley; parents; and three brothers, Clifford, Romeo and Clarence.
