RUMFORD — Selectmen will continue work on the third wind ordinance during a workshop at 6 p.m. today in Rumford Falls Auditorium.

Agenda topics are shadow flicker, decommissioning, mitigation waiver agreement, inspections, project phasing plan and operational license.

Tabled items from the board’s first workshop on Aug. 11 will be revisited. Those items include sound modeling, sound standards and sound-related enforcement procedures, set back requirements and design plan and design requirements for height of wind turbines.

Selectmen have been basing their work on a third ordinance off the second attempt, which a majority of town meeting voters in June defeated. The first ordinance attempt was defeated last November.

The board doesn’t know why the attempts were defeated, other than the first one was widely regarded as too restrictive and the second, too permissive.

Selectmen have held workshops on Aug. 11 and 16 while trying to quickly finish the proposal for public hearings this fall, and then place it on the November ballot.
