LISBON — Lucien J. Albert, 90, formerly of 25 Woodside Drive, Lewiston, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, at The Lamp.
He was born July 13, 1921, a son of the late Adelard and Arthermise (Vallee) Albert.
Lucien was born and raised in Lewiston. He married Evelyn Beane of Auburn on June 19, 1960, and shared 50 years of marriage. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II as a bombardier in the 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Divison, 458th Bomb Group stationed in Norwich, England. He was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.
Lucien retired from Zayres, where he worked as a salesman in the electronics department. He also worked for local funeral homes for many years as an attendant helping many of the families during services, finally retiring just three years ago. Lucien and his wife, Evelyn, enjoyed traveling to the reunions of the 8th Air Force, visiting many states and returning to Norwich, England in 1995, where Lucien was stationed.
Evelyn created many photo albums highlighting their trips together. They made many friends along the way as well. No matter where they traveled, Lucien would run into someone that he knew or someone would recognize him from the past. He made a lasting impression on many lives. He will be remembered for his smile and friendly spirit. He also was a lifelong member of the American Legion, and the 8th Air Force Historical Society.
Lucien is survived by his son, Michael Albert and his wife, Joanne, of Greene; one grandson, Jeremy Albert of Crestview, Fla.; one granddaughter, Angela Lyle and her husband, Michael, of Lewiston; one great-granddaughter, Aspen Raye Albert of McKinney, Texas; one great-grandson, to be born soon; Lucien also leaves behind his siblings, Jeannine Jankins of Lompoc, Calif., Adrien Albert and his wife, Maria, of Canoga Park, Calif., and Raymond Albert of Machias; and niece, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn, in April 2010; and one sister, Irene Albert.
