LEWISTON — Blanche Y. Normandeau, 70, of 250 Bates St., Lewiston, and formerly of Sixth Street, New Auburn, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 25, at her home.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 13, 1940, a daughter of Conrad and Yvonne (Legere) Grandbois. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On Oct. 5, 1963, Blanche married William D. Normandeau who predeceased her on June 29, 2001.

Mrs. Normandeau first worked for a number of years in local shoe manufacturing. She later attained her certificate as a CNA and worked 15 years in nursing at Clover Manor until her retirement. While living in New Auburn, she enjoyed her home and neighborhood, and was a member of St. Louis Church. For the last four years, Blanche resided at the Bates Street Senior Housing complex where she also enjoyed the company of good friends and neighbors as well as the various resident and community room activities she participated in.

She was a loving, devoted and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother. Her laughter and story telling will be greatly missed, along with her saying “I love you up to the sky and back again” to her grandson. She had a unique way about herself which made her loved more then she knew. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves a daughter, Rebecca Normandeau, of Poland;  a son, John Normandeau and his wife, Brenda, of Lisbon; one grandson, Andrew Normandeau, of Lisbon;  three sisters, Priscilla Morse and husband, Albert, of Kennebunkport, Diane Rich and husband, Jerry, of Arizona, and Debra Stanley and husband, Ronald, of Jay; one brother, Richard Grandbois and wife, Carol, of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Blanche was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
