JAY — There are a couple of changes in the Regional School Unit 73’s first week of school due to Tropical Storm Irene’s havoc.
Freshman orientation, which was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30, at both campuses of Spruce Mountain High School, has been canceled, high school north campus administrative assistant Gavin Kane said.
This will allow the staff to hold the first of two workshops on Tuesday, Aug. 30, since Monday’s staff workshop day was canceled due to the storm that caused a power outage in the area.
Students in grades kindergarten through 12 will report to school for the first day on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The second change is there will be no school on Friday, Sept. 2, for all students to allow the staff to have its second workshop day, Kane said.
