BUCKFIELD — Jason Rowe, organizer of the 31st Labor Day celebration, said there will be some new features this year.
One is a race of miniature horses at Buckfield Downs at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5. Philip Trundy, who raises miniature horses, will also have them in the parade, which has a circus theme.
There will be floats, fire engines, antique cars, marching bands and the Kora Temple Shriners’ Crazy Cops, along with bikes, walkers and American Legion units.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. from the Buckfield High School and will go down Route 140 to Route 117 to the municipal building. Parade participants should line up at the high school at 9 a.m.
Anyone interested in being in the parade may call Jason Rowe at 713-0847. Vendors may also call for a spot on the field.
After the parade, there will be activities at the lower ball field behind the municipal building where the band Skosh will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a horseshoe-throwing contest, food and craft vendors, a bounce house and other activities.
