I am sure that the people of Maine were very happy to hear that Gov. Paul LePage has, with a stoke of his pen, reversed 235 years of American history.
In a move last week, LePage appointed himself the new King Paul. He has made himself the sole arbiter of all new regulations and/or rules that can go into effect throughout the state.
Initially elected by only 39 percent of the popular vote, he has now decided that he, and he alone, has the knowledge and experience to decide what is best for the entire state of Maine.
He does not speak for me, and I am sure there are many others who share my sentiments.
His move follows along the same move taken by Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, another man elected by a minority vote. Thank goodness the Florida Supreme Court ruled that Scott overstepped his constitutional authority.
It is time that the majority of the people, those who do not agree with the wacky extremist members of the new Republican cult, speak up and tell them that they will not be allowed to strip the people of their rights. That the public will fight back with everything they have to keep the freedoms enjoyed today.
People threw off the yoke of a king before, and they can and will do it again.
