PARIS — A celebration of Joan Parker’s 13 years as children’s librarian at the Paris Public Library was held June 25 by the library’s staff and trustees. Parker was presented with several gift certificates, a corsage and two cakes, which were shared among her many well-wishers.

Since starting with the library, Parker has hosted the Paris Public Library’s weekly storytime, oversaw the annual Summer Reading challenges and activities, and began, in cooperation with the local access channel NPC-TV, the cable show Story Connections, which is seen across the country.

Parker plans to continue with Story Connections. She also has several other projects she plans on pursuing. Jennifer Haverinen Lewis is stepping in as the new host of storytime, which meets at 10 a.m. on Thursdays.
