Coach: Dave Sterling (second year)

Last year’s record: 5-4, lost in Eastern A quarterfinals

Returning players: Seniors — Luke Farrago (FB/LB), Dylan Deconzo (LB/TB), Alphonso Belnavis (CB/WR), Darnell Hairston (DE/LB/TB), Josh Delong (QB).

Key losses: Teven Colon (TB), Cory Spruill (NT/FB), Avery Jackson (T/DT), Ben Bellevue (G/DE), Cody Meserve (C/DT), Zach Earle (T/DT), Zach Leblond (TE/SS).

Promising newcomers: Seniors — Tony Wysocki (G/NG), Anfernee Bradley (DE), Garrett Sanborn (G/DE), Aaron Crenshaw (C, Gage Clavet (WR), David Sterling (FB), Evan Hazelton (DT), Matt Yarnevich (DE); Juniors — Alex Sterling (T/DT), Mitch Lachapelle (T/DT), Quin Leary (TE/OLB), Sean Ford (WR).

Overview: The Red Eddies were a second-half team both in games and throughout the season during Sterling’s first year, capping their run to the playoffs with a convincing win over Lewiston. EL will miss the explosive Colon, who starred at both quarterback and tailback in his career, but Hairston has similar game-breaking potential. Crenshaw (6-foot-3, 315 pounds), Ales Sterling (245) and Lachapelle (245) give the Eddies some size in the trenches they’ve lacked in the past. With only four teams making the PTC ’A’ playoffs this year, September games against Lawrence, Bangor and Brunswick will have a huge say in whether or not the Eddies return to the postseason.

Coach’s comment: “With this core of guys, our expectations are pretty high, but it’s one at a time.” — Coach Dave Sterling
