Coach: Phil Prideaux (second year)
Last year’s record: 0-9
Returning players: Seniors — Josh Bagdon (TE/DE), Colbey Bowen (G/OLB), Roman Latno (QB/OLB), John Greenleaf (HB/S); Juniors — Colin Skilling (C/LB), Cam Quintal (T/LB). Josh Hilliard (OL/DL).
Key losses: None.
Promising newcomers: Juniors — Vincent Beaulieu (DT), Josh Greenleaf (CB).
Outlook: No team was hit harder by an MPA committee’s decision to stick with three classes for football than G-NG, which is only two students above the current Class B-C cutoff line. So the Patriots remain in the higher division with the likes of Mountain Valley, Cape Elizabeth, Wells and newcomers Marshwood, Westbrook and Spruce Mountain. The good news: Most of the team returns intact after a rough 2010, and a tiered schedule will keep G-NG matched primarily against the other young programs in the Campbell Conference.
Coach’s comment: “We’re still young. We’re in good spirits. We’re obviously smaller than every other team in the league.” — Coach Phil Prideaux
