DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to Hector (Aug. 27) who was looking for the ‘green girl’ monument: I live at the end of Blanchard Road on Mount Gile in East Auburn. The monument is still on Mount Gile on the Lake Auburn side of the trail that goes over the mountain to East Auburn. No one is buried there. It is just a monument commemorating where she committed suicide. The lot is owned by the city of Auburn. You have to go over private land to get there. — Bill Saucier, Auburn, wsaucier@roadrunner.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m wondering if Southwest Airlines is still planning to come to the Portland Jetport this year? — Julie Smith, julmoe@roadrunner.com

ANSWER: According to a posting at consumerreports.org, the U.S. Department of Justice approved the merger last spring, so it’s just a matter of time before the actual physical merger takes place. Earlier reports indicated that Southwest’s takeover of AirTran Airways’ Portland slots might happen in October. There should be some more news soon.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A while ago, you ran a letter in Sun Spots about a retired veteran in the Augusta area who did free research for people who are trying to find information or whereabouts of family members. I have been searching for a family member for more than three years and have hit a roadblock. I do have some information, but I would like to seek this man’s help. Can you please run that letter in Sun Spots again as I missed it the first time? Thanks. — No Name, Turner

ANSWER: Sun Spots thinks she knows which column you are referring to (April 11), but that veteran was helping people find unclaimed funds, not missing people. You can read it at http://tinyurl.com/66xs77g and see if that is the column you are remembering.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to reach a lady who let me borrow an EZ UP Canopy during my yard sale Aug. 12-13. I was really happy to have it as it was a very hot weekend. The problem I have is that the lady never returned to pick it up. I would like to make arrangements with her for pickup, or I can deliver it. Thank you so much for your kindness. — E. Bilodeau, 783-6978, yaine53@hotmail.com
