LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education will offer a variety of health and fitness classes this fall. Fall fitness classes will include:
Couch to 5K will help participants join the millions of people who use road race training to get or stay in shape. This is a good first step for those who are interested in trying out road racing, but need some support getting started.
Golf for Beginners will take place at Roy’s, and is designed for new golfers who have some familiarity with golf and golf terminology, but need some help getting to the next level.
Hula Hooping to Heal will provide an introduction into this new and fun form of exercise. Participants in this class will also have the opportunity to sign up for the Make Your Own Hoop workshop, which will meet prior to the start of the hooping class.
Pilates is an excellent way to strengthen core muscles and develop flexibility.
Tai Chi is a Chinese Martial Art known for its health benefits. This introductory class will focus on the basic movements of Tai Chi and Chi Kung.
Vinyasa Yoga Flow blends elements of Tai Chi, Kindalini Yoga, DanceYoga, Tri-Yoga Flow, Vinyasa Yoga and Shiva Rea’s Yoga Trance Dance, to provide a fun-filled movement meditation.
Women’s Self-Defense and the Real World will help participants develop practical behavioral and defensive techniques to protect themselves in a threatening situation.
Zumba for Beginners will utilize the principles of aerobic fitness interval training and resistance training to burn calories while sculpting and toning the body.
