The high-energy Monsta band will play at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Moose Alley in downtown Rangeley. Formed in Rumford in December 2008, the group is made up of five seasoned local musicians who enjoy rocking out to classic music from the 1980s to today. They are Dan McDonald, lead singer; Mike Downs, lead guitar; Rene Lee, rhythm guitar; Troy P., bass; and D-No Gilbert, drums. Monsta has played such venues as Foggy Goggle at Sunday River, The Funky Red Barn, The Matterhorn, Sunday River Brewing Co. in Bethel, Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore, Club Texas in Auburn and its home base, the Barnboard Tavern in Rumford.
