Sumner – Marshall “Joe” Gammon, 92, of Sumner, passed away peacefully the morning of Sept. 2, at Market Square Nursing Home in South Paris.

Born Oct. 14, 1918, at the Old Homestead in Hartford, Joe was the son of the late Percy and Nellie Gammon. He was one of ten children.

Marshall was a great brother, uncle, and friend, with an infectious laugh. When he was young, he was a logger and worked in the woods with a team of horses. He also enjoyed splitting wood, hunting, and farming the land. Marshall looked forward to family gatherings and dearly loved his family. He spent many days spending time with his life-long friend, Basselies Gammon. Marshall will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Six of his siblings, Ella, Ada, John, twins Alfred and Alfreda, and Clinton, predeceased him; while two, Dorothy and Roger, survive him. He is also survived by many nieces; nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great, great nieces and nephews.
