DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have recently re-found the American Legion. My desire is to present myself in the proper headgear at our meetings. I was given an older catalog (2009) on where to obtain the proper suppliers, but the company has not replied to three requests for a new catalog.

I tried calling the company, but due to hearing problems I could not understand a word they were saying. In usual catalog requests, the companies are more than ready to respond.

I am enclosing an order blank from the older catalog to see if you get some information as to my catalog request. If you get in touch with them, please ask why they can’t reply. — No Name, Turner

ANSWER: The first thing Sun Spots noticed when she visited www.emblem.legion.org, was that the address on the form you sent is different from the one on the website. The address online is American Legion Flag & Emblem Sales, P.O. Box 36460, Indianapolis, IN 46236. That may explain why you got no response.

Sun Spots emailed [email protected] and asked them to send you a catalog. Please let her know if you don’t receive it in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like to get a head start on your shopping, you can take this column to your local library along with your credit card and ask the librarian in the computer section to help you navigate the website.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Back some time this year, the Lewiston High School Photography Department had an inquiry in Sun Spots requesting old cameras. Would you have in your records who to contact as I have some photographic equipment that I would like to see if they could use? — No Name via email

ANSWER: That letter was from Jan. 26 (sunjournal.com/sun-spots/story/973454). It said, in part, that the Lewiston High School Art Department and black-and-white photography program is seeking donations of film cameras, both manual and point and shoot, and is also in need of some darkroom equipment.

Cameras can be dropped off at the main office for photography. For further information, please e-mail Sarah Stocker, [email protected].

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was wondering if anyone witnessed a car and motorcycle accident on Main Street and Strawberry Avenue in Lewiston on Tuesday, Aug. 23, about 8 a.m.? The car hit the motorcycle, which had a child as a passenger.

The hub cap fell off the car and the light was smashed and then the driver drove away. If anyone has any information, please call 577-2695. Thank you. — Tina Robichaud, [email protected]

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope you can help me locate friends of the YWCA. I’m part of a committee that is working on the Sept. 11 YWCA Open House. We are attempting to reach former members and invite them to stop by.

When we were young wives and mothers, the YWCA was where we gathered twice a month, and this open house is an opportunity to reunite. Some of us had children who swam at the YWCA, and we encourage them to come. Our club advisor, Toni Ramsey, will be there. See you on Sept. 11! — Maryann, [email protected]
