Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. 

Book signing by former governor Angus King, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Androscoggin Community Room. In January 2003, after two terms as governor of Maine, Angus King hit the road. Packing his wife and children into a Newmar Dutch Star RV, he set out on a five-and-a-half-month journey to circumnavigate the United States. “Governor’s Travels” is the story of that adventure, describing the places they went and the people they met along the way.

Maine in the Movies: “Message in a Bottle,” 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the Androscoggin Community Room. This new series of films will feature movies shot in Maine. Admission is 50 cents and includes popcorn and a beverage.

Computer Skills for Job Seekers, three remaining sessions: Sept. 7, 12 and 19, 9 to 11 a.m. in the computer lab. The class is free, but space is limited; advance registration is required.

The Androscoggin Irish: Origins and Beginnings, with John Henderson, noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Local historian and author John Henderson visits to discuss what brought Irish immigrants to Lewiston-Auburn, how they made their way here and what challenges they faced when they arrived. Copies of Henderson’s new book, “Androscoggin Irish,” will be available for signing and purchase. Free. Bring a bagged lunch or order out at The Library Cafe; drinks and dessert will be supplied.

Workshop: Job Skills including Resume Building and Interview Tips, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, Library Conference Room. This workshop is presented by the Lewiston Career Center and Auburn Public Library. The workshop is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required.

The Future of Independent Bookstores, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, in the Androscoggin Community Room. A discussion by the owner of Percy’s Burrows for a look at the future of independent bookstores.

Basic Computer Help, 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 15 and 29, in the computer lab.

What Good Are Hobbies Anyway?, 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Join collector and author Anne Chandler to discuss just what it is that makes collecting appealing. Please bring an item from your own collection to share and discuss with the group.

Book Discussion: “The World Without Us” by Jennifer Weisman, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the Androscoggin Community Room.
