MEXICO — Roy Hodsdon is the first lieutenant of the Mexico Police Department, Chief James Theriault announced.
Hodsdon was promoted from sergeant.
“This position will open up a possibility for more training for Lt. Hodsdon and give him more management experience,” Theriault said. “There will no longer be a sergeant’s position.”
Hodsdon said he is excited about the position and the training he will receive. He said he hopes it will open up new doors for him and possibly prepare him for the chief’s position in the future.
Hodsdon has been an officer with the department since 2004. He started his career in law enforcement in 1997 as a reserve officer in Mexico, then was a reserve officer for Rumford in 1998 and hired full time in 1999, before being hired by Mexico.
Hodsdon also runs the Mexico Police Explorer Post that provides area youth with educational experience pertaining to law enforcement, leadership opportunities and community service activities.
He also helped in acquiring a Humvee with the Explorers from military surplus. It has been detailed with Mexico Police Department decals. The Humvee will be used in various public service activities, including a 9/11 memorial parade in Freeport next week.
