AUBURN — Mr. Daniel Bennet “Ben” O’Halloran, 65, died on Monday, Sept. 5, at the Hospice House. He was a resident of Center Bridge Road in Turner.

Born in Rumford on June, 29, 1946, he was a son of Charles and Louise (Thurlow) O’Halloran. He attended Peru School and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1964. He retired in 2008 after working 40 years as a NELMA grader at Timberlands, later known as Irving Forest Products Mill, in Dixfield. He was a longtime member of the Planning Board in Peru and a member of the Peru Fire Department as captain, serving 15 years.

He was a starting founder of the Peru Snowmobile Club, serving as board of director and president for several terms. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1248 and the LaParesseux Snowshoe Club for many years. He enjoyed camping on the seacoast and in the Maine woods, going to fairs and festivals. He especially enjoyed spending time at his camp at Concord Pond.

He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Yvonne Robert and grandson, Gabriel, of Turner; her children, Derek Brennan, of Lisbon, and Jamie Brennan, of South Paris; his brother, Jon O’Halloran and wife, Kelly, of Peru; cousins, Patsy and husband, Clyde Holt, of Oxford, and Penny and husband, Alan Pray, of Mechanic Falls; and many loyal lifetime friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Charles, in 1984 and his mother, Louise, in 2006.
