BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Donald R. Dion, 81, of Bonita Springs, Fla., passed away on Monday, Sept. 5, at his residence. Formerly of Lewiston, he was a resident of Bonita Springs since 1995.
He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Lewiston, a son of the late Rosaire and Yvonne (Custeau) Dion. Don graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation, Mr. Dion enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. An avid boater and woodworker, Don joined his father’s business, Marcotte Furniture World, in Lewiston, which he went on to own and operate until his retirement in 1988. He served as director of both the St. Peter’s Credit Union and Auburn Savings and Loan in Lewiston.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Hilda M. (Rousseau) Dion; loving children, Donald Dion Jr. and wife, Cathy (Morton), of Naples, Fla. and Williamstown, Mass., Connie Harrington of Amherst, N.H., Joline Bell and husband, Lawrence, of New Market, N.H., Gerry Dion of Greene; sisters, Muriel Dion of Lewiston, Lorraine Dubois and husband, Maurice, of Lewiston, Anita Clark and husband, Bruce, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and cherished grandchildren, Carolyn Dion, Nicole and Meghan Harrington, David and Ryan Bell, and Michael and Derrick Dion.
He was predeceased by his sister, Yvette Benoit.
