POLAND — Friends of Ricker Library announce season three of their popular Person to Person programs. These monthly Sunday evening events pair a neighborly potluck supper with an hour-long program of entertainment and/or learning.
The first program, on Sunday, Sept. 11, will feature Dr. Fred Jordan, former chief medical examiner of Oklahoma and current deputy chief medical examiner of Maine. He will describe his fascinating career in a talk titled “Forensic Pathology from Maine to Oklahoma and Back: Some Observations Along the Way.” A Maine native, educated at Bowdoin College and Tufts University School of Medicine, Jordan is now a resident of West Poland. Over the years he has played a key role in a number of high profile cases and has taught in settings ranging from prominent universities to the Poland Fire Department and local adult education.
This program will be held in the Community Room of the Ricker Library. The potluck supper will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the talk at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge. Everyone is welcome. Those wishing to join the supper are asked to bring a casserole, salad or dessert.
