LEEDS — The recent member-meber two-ball tournament at Springbrook Golf Club produced two holes-in-one in the same round.

Tim Mynahan of Lewiston registered his first ace on the 168-yard eighth hole. Mynahan played a 6-iron. Dick Metivier, Rick Shea and Rick St. Laurent were playing partners.

Aaron Burke, also of Lewiston, notched his second hole-in-one on the 138-yard 13th hole. Burke used a 4-iron to accomplish the feat while Bill Crane, Steve Dyer and Dan Parent looked on.

Club Notes: A golf tournament will be held Sept. 25 at Fairlawn Golf & Country Club in memory of Davis Richardson, who was a highly respected Maine State Golf Association official for more than 20 years.

Richardson, a New Gloucester resident, died Dec. 16, 2010. He had been a tournament director for the MSGA for more than two decades, starting in 1988. During that time he became a beloved golf figure throughout the state.

Prior to joining the MSGA staff, Richardson owned a family business called Dave’s Market which he established in 1964 at 375 Market Street in Lewiston, where it was well-known for supporting the city’s youth activities. A lifelong Maine resident, Richardson attended Deering High School in Portland and Livermore Falls High School, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. He was a decorated Navy veteran of World War II.

Golf was Richardson’s passion. In 1991 Richardson won the ‘A’ Flight Championship at Fairlawn. In 2005, Richardson retired from full-time employment at the MSGA, but continued to help run tournaments for three years. He was elected to the Maine State Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

Proceeds from the tournament, which will cost $60 with an 8:30 a.m. tee time, will go to the MSGA Scholarship Fund in Richardson’s memory. There will be net and gross prizes for individuals and foursomes with goody bags for each player. A meal will follow the tournament. Maple Lane

LIVERMORE — Maple Lane’s Men’s League final playoffs will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday. Tyler and Warren Walton will face Scott Redmun and Chris Robinson.
