SCARBOROUGH — The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a united movement to reclaim the future for millions. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place at 13 locations across Maine to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease:

Saturday, Sept. 24: Farmington/Wilton, Kineowatha Park; Augusta/Waterville, Glenridge Living Community; Bar Harbor, Jackson Labs, Parking Lot 6; Calais, Wabanaki Culture Center; Greater Portland, Payson Park; Wells, Harbor Community Park; Lincoln, Colonial Health Care; Knox, Center for Long Term Care.

The Farmington/Wilton walk registration will begin at 8 a.m. The four-mile walk will start at 9. For more information, call or email 772-0115 or [email protected].

Saturday, Oct. 1: Lewiston/Auburn, St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, Parking Lot D; Bangor Raceway at Bass Park; Southern Midcoast, Topsham Town Hall; Fort Kent, Forest Hill; Sanford, Goodall Hospital, Medical Office Building.

The Lewiston/Auburn walk will begin at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The walk is three miles. For information, contact 772-0115 or [email protected].

Participants will walk together and learn more about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical trial enrollment and support programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association. Each walker will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. More than 2,500 people from these areas are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Alzheimer’s is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. There are approximately 37,000 families in Maine who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
