LEWISTON — Midell P. Garneau, 89, died Saturday, Sept. 10, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was a resident of the Ridge Road in Peru.

Born in Mexico Jan. 10, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Harry Eastman and Avis Whitman. She attended Mexico schools. She was an avid painter and also loved to write books, sew, cook and play cards. She was a member of the Peru Baptist Church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher.

She was married in Dixfield in April 1946 to John Garneau, who died in 2003.

Survivors include five daughters, Paula Martin and her husband, John “Petou,” and their daughter, Tammy Hubbard, Avis Richard and her companion, Junior Belskis, of Mexico, Doris Lathrop and her companion, Mike Heinderstrom, of Kittery, Joyce Gaudet of Florida and Jeannie Duguay of Mexico; a son, Larry Garneau of Rumford; a sister-in-law, Ida Packard and her husband, Donald, of Sebago; daughter-in-law, Nancy Garneau of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Blunda of Peru, Audrey Garneau of Peru, Beverly Powell of Peru, and Priscilla Hildgenberg and her husband, Donald, of Florida.
