KINGFIELD — Norman S. Trenholm, 77, of Scrub Nubble Farm, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Sept. 8.

He was born in Phillips Aug. 31, 1934, a son of James B. and Clara Dodge Trenholm. He graduated from Kingfield High School in 1953 and was proud that he was in the top 10 of his class. Following graduation, he went to Portland and worked at Farmer Kerns Meat Packing plant. This is where he met his wife of 57 years, Nancy Haggett Trenholm. They were married Sept. 11, 1954, in Portland. They moved home to Kingfield in April 1955.

Over the course of the next 57 years, he worked as a butcher for Harold Hutchins, at what is now Annie’s Market, at Wings Spool and Bobbin Mill, and at Kingfield Wood Products until his retirement in 1996. He was a true farmer at heart, as he raised sheep, chickens, ponies, cows and turkeys, as well as had a large garden. In later years, he enjoyed mowing lawns and sharing his garden produce with the neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Kingfield; his children, Bonnie and husband, Colby Robinson, of Freeman, Beverly and husband, Bob Moore, David and wife, Crystal Trenholm, Marjorie Trenholm, Natalie and husband, Chuck Twitchell, and a special “adopted” daughter, Gail Crockett, all of Kingfield; his grandchildren, Katie and husband, Dave, Danielle and fiance, Ryan, Dorrie and fiance, Alex, Davey and fiance, Stephanie, Mickey, Emmy, Kristin and Torin; one very special great-grandson, Logan; his siblings, Jean Welch of Augusta, Richard and Jeannie Trenholm of Beacon, N.Y., Ted Trenholm of Largo, Fla., and Linda and Michael Benincasa of Lake Katrine, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Charles “Bud,” Robert “Bob” and Joe; and his sister, Lillian “Betty.”

He was a friend to many special people over his lifetime.
