PARIS — Selectmen voted to accept a bid from W.H. Demmons Inc. to repair the fire station’s heating system.
At a Special Town Meeting on Monday, voters approved spending $32,770 from the Undesignated Fund Balance to pay for a new boiler.
The cost includes $23,504 for the heating system repair, $1,508 for pipe insulation, $4,714 to extend the digital control system, and $2,350 for contingencies. Voters opted not to approve a digital overhead door control for $6,872.
The town also approved a 1-year maintenance agreement, which will be paid for from a second account.
The Paris Fire Station was built in 2003 but has suffered two failures of its heating system for the garage. The W.H. Demmons bid proposes to fix the problems that caused previous boilers to fail by using an integrated digital control system for all heating. The control system is expected to make the fire station heating more efficient, resulting in energy savings.
The work will be completed this fall.
