DIXFIELD — A 17-year-old local boy was readmitted to Dirigo High School following a 20-minute hearing before the RSU 10 board Monday night.

The board also unanimously approved three-year contracts with the district’s 16 administrators and about 100 educational technicians.

The fourth-year high school student was expelled in October 2010 after an assault on another student. The boy’s readmittance is contingent upon working out a plan for conditions with Principal Michael Poulin and Superintendent Tom Ward.

The vote was 15-0 and one abstention.

Ward said the board’s approval of three-year contracts with the administrators and educational technician bargaining unit brings all three regions of RSU 10 onto the same salary schedule.

Administrators will receive an average 2.8 percent salary increase for school years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. The district will also pay 90 percent of the health insurance premium for each administrator.

Educational technicians will also receive an average salary increase of 2.8 percent, with some receiving no increase and others as much as a 6 percent increase over the three-year contract.

The district will pay 94 percent of health insurance premiums for single educational technicians and 84 percent of the premiums for those with families by the end of the three years.

Technicians will also be paid according to their certification level.

The goal of the district is to put all similar positions from each of the three regions onto the same salary schedule.

The administrative unit has already agreed to the board’s proposal.

Members of the educational technician bargaining unit are expected to act on the proposed contract within the next few days.

With the approval of the contracts with the two units Monday, Ward said three bargaining units have been equalized. Still to be equalized are the secretaries, bus drivers/custodians and nutrition workers units.

Negotiations are expected to begin on those within a couple of weeks.
