NORWAY — A group working to distribute a community resource guide for towns, agencies and churches fighting poverty is going over a final draft and working on a distribution plan.
Chris Davis, coordinator at Healthy Oxford Hills, said the group can host the guide on her agency’s website.
In addition to printing copies of the guide, the group will ask churches, libraries, police departments, schools and agencies to link to the guide on their own websites.
The resource guide arose from a need to link local aid agencies due to a perceived rise in aid requests last winter. The book would allow towns, churches and agencies to direct people to the appropriate source of help.
The guide is organized by type of aid and includes contact information for town offices, food pantries and other resources. The guide was written in the spring by an intern at Rumford Group Homes.
The book’s reach is still under discussion. For example, on Tuesday members of the group discussed whether to include Harrison, which is part of the Oxford Hills region but is in Cumberland County. The guide currently doesn’t include resources for Harrison residents.
