FARMINGTON — A Lewiston man was indicted Thursday in two separate cases, one involving failing to stop for police in Jay and the second related to corrections officers finding marijuana that fell out of his clothing at the jail after going to court.
Edward Barbioni Jr., who had a residence in Livermore Falls on July 28, was indicted on charges of passing a roadblock, failing to stop, operating after suspension, improper plates and driving to endanger.
Barbioni, who listed a Lewiston address on Aug. 31, was also indicted on a charge of trafficking in prison contraband.
In the latter indictment, Barbioni had turned himself in to Jay police on the Jay warrant for the July 28 incidents, and he was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington.
Corrections officers quickly patted him down in a search and processed him to get him to court that day, Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Niles Yeaton said previously.
After returning to court, Barbioni was strip-searched and waited in the booking area to see if he could make $150 cash bail, Yeaton had said.
When he couldn’t make bail, he was strip-searched again to get into jail clothing and a small amount of marijuana fell out of his clothing, Yeaton said.
