FARMINGTON — A Franklin County grand jury indicted two people Thursday on sexual assault charges involving children.

Mandy Lynn Thibodeau, 34, of Farmington was indicted on two counts of gross sexual assault against a young teenage boy. The incidents allegedly occurred on Sept. 13 and 21.

Thibodeau is an acquaintance of the boy, Farmington Detective Marc Bowering said earlier this month. The assaults allegedly occurred in Farmington and northern Franklin County, he had said.

A family member of the boy made a complaint to the Farmington Police Department and police began an investigation. Both Farmington police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department charged Thibodeau with one count each of sexual assault.

In another assault case, Ralph O. Metcalf, 32, of East Dixfield, was indicted on a charge of gross sexual assault against a girl in connection with a May 2010 incident. Metcalf was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in June.

A representative of the Phillips Elementary School made the referral to the state agency after information was received on an alleged assault, Sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said previously.

The Sheriff’s Department and state Protective Services conducted a joint investigation.

After interviews were conducted with all parties, St. Laurent and Deputy Sandy Burke arrested Metcalf outside his workplace in Jay, St. Laurent had said.
