GORHAM, N.H. — Nelson F. LaPierre, 78, of Gorham died on Sept. 16.

He was born in Gorham, N.H., March 2, 1933, the son of Philip and Katherine (Clough) LaPierre and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from James River Corp. in 1980, and from JWI in 1990.

Nelson loved telling jokes and had a keen wit and a silver tongue. He loved brook fishing, playing golf was his passion and loved spending time at the AVCC with the Renegades.

Members of the family include his wife, Mary (Candido) LaPierre of Gorham; children, Scott LaPierre of Gorham, Mark LaPierre of Bartlett, Gregg LaPierre of Hollywood, Fla., and Sally Middleton of West Milan; stepchildren, Cathy Theriault Westen of Portland, Ore., Gary Theriault of Kona, Hawaii, Mark Theriault of Portland, Ore., Patrick Theriault of Gorham, Virginia Levesque of Whitefield and Lea Boliver of Amesbury, Mass.; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-granddaughter; sister, Beverly Harron of Massachusetts; brother, Gary LaPierre of Maryland; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Greg LaPierre.
