LEWISTON – L/A Arts Gallery 5 has announced its fall workshop schedule. All of the workshops take place in the gallery at 49 Lisbon St. To register, call L/A Arts at 782-7228 or go online to www.laarts.org.

The Artist’s Way with Tammie Grieshaber, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evenings, Sept. 26-Dec. 12. $10 per week or $100 for the full session.

Using Julia Cameron’s book, “The Artist’s Way,” participants will rediscover their own creativity. This course is for all people who want to be more creative in their daily lives through practicing an art. Participants do not need to be an artist or aspire to be an artist. The workshop is to help people rediscover the creative person that is inside each of us and help figure out how to use our individual creativity in our lives. Books should be purchased prior to the first class.

After Dark Photography with Michael Leonard, 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Bring your camera and tripod. $20.

View Leonard’s wonderful examples of night photography and learn about the techniques used in low-light situations to capture the activity around us after dark. Participants will step outside to Dufresne Plaza to practice their new skills.

Create a Pressed Leaf Assemblage Painting with Jenn Greenleaf, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. $65 (includes all supplies). The 8×10 paintings are created using paint chip samples, pressed leaves, buttons and other embellishments. Students will receive a step-by-step sheet, as well as materials list, for independent studies following the workshop. The group will work together setting up the canvas, painting the first layers, drying them and assembling the rest of the media. Students are encouraged to bring in their own embellishments, but they will also be provided.

iPhoneography with Kimberly Post Rowe, 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 15. Bring an iPhone; this workshop will demonstrate only iPhone apps. $20

Rowe devoted nine months to a personal project of creating fine art photographs with her iPhone. See her work and learn how she used this little camera and screen to her greatest artistic potential. Learn which apps she uses and how she processes her art. Rowe’s work will be on exhibit at the Androscoggin Bank Lobby on Lisbon Street during the September Art Walk and through the month of October.

Casting a Personal Mask with Arla Patch, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. $115 plus $40 materials fee. Create a unique work of art, a plaster mask of yourself. Arla has done extensive work with groups and individuals in creating and decorating bodycasts and face masks. The first day will be spent casting your face and preparing the mask for your special decorations. The second afternoon is for the decorating. This class will be limited to 10 people.

Gallery 5 is a community outreach initiative of L/A Arts. It features and promotes works of art in all media and serves as an educational resource for those who are familiar with original art and those for whom original art is a new experience. Through exhibitions and programs, L/A Arts’ Gallery 5 provides a unique venue for contemporary art in Maine.
