LEWISTON — Eleanor R. Cusson, 69, of 250 Bates St., died Monday, Sept. 19, at Central Maine Medical Center suddenly after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, July 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Henry A. Kelley and the former Madeleine L. Snow. Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated boarding homes and for many years had worked in area hospitals and nursing homes as a nurse’s aide.

She was a member of the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, former vice president of the American Legion Post 159 of Lisbon. Former head start teacher, taught Sunday school both here and in Africa. Eleanor loved doing crafts, sewing, and cooking. Other Interests included a love of sports, music, including keyboard and psalmtry reading.

She is survived by a son, Christopher Everett and his wife, Alisa, of West Farmington; three daughters, Robanna Aybar and her husband, Hakan, Veronica McNally and her husband, Gerard and Katherine Mercier, all of Lewiston; five sisters, Jackie Beck of New Hampshire, Marion Holt of Oxford, Emma Curtis and her husband, Greg, of Montana, Helen Fairbrother of Poland and Patricia Phipps of Windham; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Genevieve Blais.
