LEWISTON — Therese C. Lemieux Theberge, 87, a resident of Belfast for more than 30 years and Dixmont for the past five years, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Sabattus, June 29, 1924, the daughter of Louis G. and Marie Antoinette Royer Lemieux. Educated in Sabattus schools, on Sept. 1, 1952, she married Rene Z. Theberge at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus. Mr. Theberge passed away on May 20, 1997.

She was employed for many years by the Libbey Mill, and also worked in several local shoe shops. Before retiring, she worked for 12 years as a homemaker aide and case aide for Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

She loved to garden, was a talented seamstress, enjoyed family gatherings and was a wonderful cook, being most famous for her whoopie pies. She also loved dogs.

A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by a son, Marc and wife, Lynn Theberge, of Palermo; two daughters, Pauline and husband, Mitchell Sowa Jr., of Dixmont and Monique Theberge of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Mitchell Sowa, Therese and husband, Matthew Bailey, Daniel Sowa and Irene Sowa; a great-granddaughter, Isis Bailey; a sister-in-law, Rejane Lemieux of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Bertrand, Laurent and Louis Lemieux; and three sisters, Bernadette Lachapelle, Rose Richard and Jeanne Lemieux.
