TURNER — MSAD #52 Adult and Community Education will offer a wide variety of classes this fall, beginning on Oct. 3.

Sign up for budgeting basics on Monday, Oct. 3, and explore the basic building blocks of creating a budget. Topics will include money tracking and goal setting.

Reiki level one will be held Tuesdays, Oct. 4 and 11. Participants learn the hands-on method for direct healing and receive an attunement that creates the channeling ability. Certificate awarded upon completion.

An American Red Cross CPR and AED first aid class starts Thursday, Oct. 13. Receive the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Topics covered will include choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims of all ages.

Two Saturday classes will be offered on Oct. 15: Maine driving dynamics is a state approved five-hour course that offers the opportunity to improve  defensive driving abilities. On completion, students receive a three-point credit on their driving record.

Join in the fun of making a hula hoop in a special workshop. Create a beautiful, sparkly hoop and, if time permits, there will be a brief demonstration on how to get comfortable with trying the new hoop.

Predator or prey starts Monday, Oct. 17 for ages 9-11 years old. Investigate adaptations and environments that animals develop and go on several “explorations” including a trip to Nezinscot farm. “Dissect” an owl pellet to find out how they get rid of bones.

Beginner Ashtanga yoga commences Wednesday, Oct. 19 for students interested in learning the standard sequence of the primary series. Focus will be on breathing and alignment for a safe, effective yoga practice.

Also beginning Oct. 19 is a jewelry wire wrapping class. Learn to use craft wire to create jewelry parts such as ear wires, head pins, coils, bead cages, clasps and pendant balls. Tools will be lent to students for class.
