LEWISTON — After a summer hiatus, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will resume their monthly meeting at the Ramada Inn at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27.

A social half-hour will be followed by lunch at noon. President Richard St. Amand will conduct a business meeting after the program concentrating on old and new business. Secretary/treasurer Paul Ouellette will present a reading of the minutes from the May 24 meeting.

The Legislative Committee members, Claire Breton and Roland Metayer, will give a report on recent federal and state news and issues of interest to NARFE members.

A customer service representative from Anthem/Blue Cross/Blue Shield will be the speaker discussing changes in coverage this year and assist with questions from NARFE members regarding open season for the federal health insurance program.

Plans for the meeting were formulated by St. Amand and Ouellette.

Recently NARFE was notified that they had won an award in nationwide publishing competition, the APEX 2011 Award of Excellence for its 90th anniversary publication “NARFE – Celebrating 90 Years of Service.” The book blends the history of NARFE with the history of the U.S. civil service. APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. The NARFE award was for one-of-a-kind publication.
