Girl Scouts of Maine announces that from Oct. 1-16, Girl Scouts in communities statewide will be asking families, friends and neighbors to place an order for their favorite nuts, candies and magazines. Products will be delivered Nov. 17-18, just in time for the holidays.
A popular aspect of the fall product sale gives the public an opportunity to purchase cans of nuts and, through Girl Scouts of Maine’s licensed product vendor, donate them to members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
This year, the nut and candy varieties include a collectible Girl Scout 100th anniversary tin filled with Mint Treasures; also available are whole cashews, pistachios, chocolate covered raisins, dark chocolate covered pretzels, double dipped chocolate covered peanuts, fruit slices, cranberry nut mix, honey roasted peanuts, Zen Crunch mix, malted milk balls and Peanut Butter Dreams. Products are $5 to $8.
“When girls participate in product sale activities they develop skills they’ll use all their lives,” said Carol Smith, product sales director for Girl Scouts of Maine. “They learn to set goals, make decisions and manage money while developing people skills and business ethics. About 3,500 girls throughout Maine participate in this activity and the money they earn allows them to take trips, support troop activities, attend camp, participate in regional, national and international destinations and conduct community service projects.”
Anyone interested in purchasing products who is not contacted by a Girl Scout may email contact information (name, address, ZIP code and phone number) to [email protected].
