JAY – Ronald A. Marchetti, 77, of Ludden Drive, Jay, died Friday evening, Sept. 23, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Chisholm, the son of Luigi and Ida (Gonnella) Marchetti. He was a 1953 graduate of Jay High School.

On Dec. 31, 1971, in Wilton, he married Jo Frances Willi. She passed away Nov. 29, 1997.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Ron worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, Maine Yankee and International Paper at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, retiring in 1997 after 44 years of dedicated service.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Farmington, Sons of Italy, International Paper Quarter Century, and the local softball and bowling leagues. He was also an avid Yankees fan.

Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends having cookouts and gatherings, but he especially loved his grandchildren and going to their school and sporting activities. Ron was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend; he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Carlton Marchetti and his wife, Christina, of Winthrop; his daughters, Amy Wilkins and her husband, Kevin, of Livermore, Rhonda D’Andrea and her husband, Jon, of Livermore Falls, and Jodi McCafferty and her husband, Norman, of Buckfield; 10 grandchildren, Joshua and William Estabrook Jr., Austin and Shannon Schmidt, Zachary and Cody White, Kyle Wilkins, Serafina Marchetti, and Kyle andKasey McCafferty; one great-grandchild, Madisen Estabrook; his sister, Carole Holt, of Jay; and special friends, Juanita Higgins and Randy Schmidt.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Joseph “Pip,” John and Ralph Marchetti; and his sisters, Sandrina Roy, Rina Gallant and Laura Moreau. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.finleyfuneralhome.com.
